We had a fabulous day celebrating not only the Jubilee but also the long awaited opening of our garden.  Whitehaven’s Town Crier, Mark Goodwin was on hand to host the event and was joined by our oldest and youngest residents Andrew & Opal Hooper who had the honour of cutting the ribbon.

We would like to thank everyone who supported this project with funding, ideas and hard labour, including; Young Enterprise, Morgan Sindall, Morrisons, The Police Crime Commissioner, Whitehaven Town Council and St Bees Priory.

Special thanks must go to Emma Porter of Story Contracting, whose team provided much of the heavy lifting in turning the design into reality.

And to Arup who have been involved with the project from start to finish, from working alongside our residents in the creation of the concept and design, to providing project managers and expertise throughout as well as volunteers to support residents with planting and for their help in getting us over the finish line some four years later!

This garden will make a huge difference to our residents and tenants of the Business Centre, enhancing their living and working environments, providing them with a safe and quiet space to enjoy the outdoors.

This project has shown us that by working together towards a shared goal we can overcome challenges and achieve our ambitions and we not only benefit from this lovely garden but from a stronger community built on hard work, perseverance and trust.
