Phase 1 of our garden project was the installation of a mural wall. Our residents were keen to place their stamp on the garden and worked alongside Young Cumbria to develop the concept and final design.
The residents chose Alice in Wonderland as the theme and were keen to incorporate scenes from the story that reflected their experiences from before and during their time at The Whitehaven Foyer.
This was an ambitious challenge, but the residents were determined and worked hard, despite the unpredictable weather conditions. The end result is absolutely amazing and has provided us with a unique feature in our garden that will be enjoyed for many years to come. A huge thank you to Ian and the team at Young Cumbria who shared their expertise and worked tirelessly to support us throughout the week, our volunteers and Sponsors Bell Decorating Group and Arup.
This is part of a much bigger scheme and we are looking for sponsors to support us in our quest to develop a multifunctional garden providing both recreational and learning spaces for our current and future residents to enjoy. Please get in touch if you feel you can contribute in any way.
